About Our Non-Profit Organization

Fripp Island Sea Rescue (FISR), formed in 1983, is a volunteer-based non-profit organization whose mission is to help boaters in distress. FISR conducts search, rescue and training operations in conjunction with Beaufort County 911, the Fripp Island Fire Department, South Carolina DNR, the US Coast Guard, Beaufort Water Search & Rescue, and other agencies.

Each season, Fripp Island Sea Rescue responds to dozens of emergencies, providing life-saving assistance to boaters and coastal residents throughout our waters.

Fripp Island Sea Rescue gives dedicated volunteers from all walks of life the opportunity to serve their community. We also train with partner agencies and expand our capabilities, strengthening the regional network of first responders who protect lives on the water.
